Aya Huma

"Enormous dancers were stomping around in a circle. They were gigantic, and had heads with two faces. They were dancing rythmically in a circle with great energy. Their heads had 12 points of hair firmly pointing upward. Their eyes were brilliant and their ears were huge. Their dancing was like a whirlwind, although their feet appeared to be backward and never touched the ground. After dancing energetically in a circle, they suddenly disappeared into the corn.

The legend states that the man was in awe and created a costume in honor of the dancers that had come up out out of the bowels of mother earth to celebrate the harvest. At the time of the next festival he dressed in the new costume that he had designed to honor the unusual visitors. That same day the man disappeared, never to be seen again. Some say he was take by the Aya Huma who granted him immortality.

Today people say that Aya Huma is a mountain spirit that comes down to the people to join in with their dancing at the time of the harvest celebration. When the dancers move in a circle, stomping their feet, they are asking mother earth to join the celebration." - Source

Bevel

This is the kind of jewellery I dream of, bringing the past and the future of human facade together. In their promotional video, Bevel (Jonathan Lloyd Goldstein) makes the sensation of touch feel so significant through the mist.

Quarr Abbey

Yesterday my Mum, Nan and I took a little lunchtime trip to the Isle of Wight's Quarr Abbey. In it's ideallic setting away from the main roads, the Abbey is home to a group of Benedictine Monks and the site dates back to 1132 though the impressive modern chapel was built in 1907. We made good use of the Abbey Tea Gardens during our visit, I advise the brie panini and chocolate brownie!

The Mother's Day Post

Happy Mother's Day to you! We celebrated in our usual style of pub food and plenty of alcohol which was enjoyed by everyone, though both Mum and I definitely struggled with the dog walking the next morning.

When we got back to Sandown, continued drinking resulted in an impromptu throw anthing close by on my family and take photos thing. I've been dying to do a photoshoot recently but this will have to tide my over..

I do quite like turning the everyday into headwear..

Island Creatures Part 3

Instead of dog walking I've taken to running with the dog (second week in) and this means I leave the camera at home. However that doesn't mean I've stopped seeing the local wildlife, the variation of which has come to surprise me recently! I still see the usual magpies, herons, buzzards etc but most of the following I'd never knowingly seen in the wild before (as stated before no photos below belong to me):

Eurasian Jay

Grey Wagtail

Either Snipe or Woodcock

Either Short Eared or Tawny Owl
