Weight of the World

The sculpture work of artist Pim Palsgraaf is a demonstration of the relationship and effects created by culture and nature. Named 'Multiscapes', these pieces depict the weight of humanity and its development on the shoulders of Kingdom Animalia, growing on these creatures like a tumour with no apparent end and engulfing them in urban expansion or decay. In some animals this urbanisation has buckled them to the knees or is actually growing from within, an effective point made here I feel.

Antlers

The weekend just passed I surprised my friend Katie with an appearance at her hen meal at Jimmy Spices in Epsom, which by the way is amazing, thanks to her fiancé Dan. The look on Katie's face was definitely worth it, that and the delicious mix of indian, chinese, thai, pizza, desserts and an exceptionally tasty long island ice tea (my new favourite drink). I ended up staying the weekend which was great, I finally saw their flat and it was great just to hang out with them and play old Playstation games like Crash Bandicoot and Rayman, as well as watching Mars Attacks and Ninja Warrior! We also had pub food in their town and went to Guildford on the Sunday, which was nice too seeing as I've never been. The weekend was a very pleasant escape from Southampton and I must say that my favourite part of Katie and Dan's flat is their antlers, ever since I knew about them being mounted on the wall I've been craving photos and I love the results, a fraction of which I've posted below.

A is for Antelope.. Pinterested?

Firstly I have to bring Pinterest to the attention of anyone reading this! I only really found out about it since the website appeared in my stats a couple of times, I followed it and it turned out Australian artist Michelle Knowles had uploaded an image of mine under her Art 'pinboard'. I took this as a great compliment as I'm a huge fan of Knowles and her shamanic themes so then decided to request the invite for my own account. Once this was confirmed I quickly became addicted so I urge you to set one up too! So far I've created 'pinboards' under the themes of Headdress, Jewellery, Kingdom Animalia and Places & Spaces.

Now for the main subject, the umbrella term for many even-toed ungulate species: Antelope!
